Music Ministry

St. John’s UCC has a tradition of excellent music programs.

Our Chancel Choir is a group of wonderful people who love to praise Our Lord through music.  The regular rehearsals are from September until May in the Sanctuary at 6:45 pm every Wednesday.  The choir is important part of Sunday worship.  Sue Vogt is the director.

The Jesus Jammers are St. John’s Children’s Choir. These “joyful noise makers” meet Wednesdays from October through May in the Parish House. Children in pre-K through grade 6 are invited to join for singing rehearsals and musical “sharing” from 6:45 to 7:30 pm.  Those in grades 3 through 6 are invited to join in learning to ring hand chimes from 7:30 to 8:00 pm.  Jean Pierce and Renee Owens are the directors.

Celebration Ringers is a group who play hand bells for church services September through May.  They also participate in the Nittany Valley Hand bell Festival which is held in State College in the Spring.  They practice Thursday evenings from 6:45 – 8:00 pm in Fellowship Hall.  Sally Yocum is the director.
