Community Senior Lunch
On the third Friday of every month, we host a Community Senior Lunch at 11:30 am in our fellowship hall. We begin with lunch and fellowship. The programming goal is to alternate useful, informative programs with others that are just plain, silly fun. For example, we have had a police officer talk to our group at length about telephone scams that target seniors. We’ve had representatives from long term care facilities discuss options related to transitioning from home ownership to progressive care. We have also been educated in advance directives, home safety, local history, and backyard birding, just to name a few. On the lighter side, we’ve been quizzed on the 50’s, tested on our spelling (could YOU spell Punxsutawney?), created our own snow globes and Easter bonnets. Then once a year we have an all-out extravaganza! This monthly event stands as one of St. John’s highlights.
